Masha* is a secular Jewish refugee from Ukraine who recently fled to safety in Berlin. Like many of the refugees we serve, she came alone—her family remained behind. She was facing serious financial hardship and struggling to complete the paperwork required to receive government assistance.
We met at a community dinner, and when I learned of her situation, I offered to help. I visited her at home to assist with the forms, and as we worked together, Masha unexpectedly brought up the subject of prayer. This opened the door for me to share my own journey of faith in Yeshua, the Messiah. She listened with deep interest and gladly accepted a Bible.
I also wrote a cover letter for her and promised to mail her documents that same day. Still, she was anxious—afraid her application might be rejected and that she’d have no choice but to return to Ukraine.
About 10 days later, during our team prayer meeting, I felt led to pray specifically for Masha. I prayed that her application approval would be a clear sign that God was at work in her life and that he would open more opportunities to share about Yeshua.
Just as the meeting ended, Masha called me. Her application had been approved! She even said she believed our prayers had been answered. What a powerful and immediate response from the Lord!
Please pray that this tangible sign of God’s love will lead Masha to put her trust in Yeshua. And continue to pray for the many other refugees we serve, that each one would come to know the love and hope found in our Messiah.
