The Unreached Next Door

A Call to Go Deeper in Jewish Evangelism

Often, when we think of missions, we think of sending someone overseas to proclaim the gospel in a foreign land. But did you know that there is a significantly unreached people group right here in North America?

According to Global Gates,1 Jewish communities consistently rank at the top of the North American priority list to hear the gospel. All 12 of the highest-scoring communities in their unreached people group matrix are Jewish. Fourteen of the top 15 are Jewish as well.

The reasons the Jewish people remain unreached are complex, rooted in false theology and historical persecution, and often internalized at a deeply personal level. For many, belief in Jesus is perceived as a threat to identity, culture, community, and family. And yet, none of these barriers negates the truth that the gospel is still good news for the Jewish people. God’s promises have not expired, his calling has not been revoked, and his love has not diminished. The imperative to reach Jewish people remains.

Jews for Jesus exists to meet these challenges head-on. Our ministry is built on the conviction that Jewish people can believe in Jesus and still remain fully Jewish. Our missionaries are Jewish believers who understand the culture, the history, and the pain. They speak with compassion and clarity. They know what it means to be misunderstood, and they know the joy of discovering Messiah.

Jewish people may be unreached, but they are not unreachable. They are waiting for someone to speak to them in a way that makes sense. They are waiting for someone to show them that Jesus is not a danger to their identity, but the fulfillment of it. They are waiting for someone to love them enough to tell them the truth.

As the apostle Paul writes in Romans 10:14–15:

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

You don’t have to be a Jews for Jesus missionary—or even be Jewish—to reach these unreached people. We have a number of ways for you to get equipped and involved.

Ministry is most effective in the context of genuine relationships. Jesus himself walked, taught, and ate with those he discipled, and he calls us to do the same. Maybe you have Jewish friends, coworkers, or neighbors who haven’t yet heard the good news of Yeshua. Is God calling you to do something about it? Or maybe you don’t have any Jewish people in your life but are called to be a prayer warrior in this spiritual battle. We’ve been praying for believers like you to help bring the gospel to the Jewish people.
