As part of a street-medicine initiative in south Tel Aviv, I treated Alma*—a woman battling addiction—who had a severely infected leg, with open wounds, cellulitis, and signs of serious infection. When I asked about underlying conditions, she whispered, “HIV, but not just that.” I reassured her, “I’m not worried about your HIV. I’m worried about your leg. You could lose it if you don’t go to the ER.” With a colleague’s help, I carefully dressed her wounds, drawing on my recent advanced wound-care training. The care we provided may have surpassed what she would receive in the ER. I was careful, but I didn’t want her to feel untouchable. We prayed for her physical and spiritual healing and urged her to seek hospital care. Please pray for complete healing of her leg, freedom from her addictions, and that she would find salvation in Yeshua.
Tim* is a Jewish Australian whose daughter has been following Yeshua for the past five years. Tim and I had a deep, honest conversation about Messianic faith, what it meant to reconcile with God, and how being Jewish and believing in Jesus can go hand in hand. We stayed in touch after that conversation, and about three weeks later, he texted me to say that he had raised his hand at a recent church service to commit his life to Yeshua. Tim wrote, “I am now a child of God and a Messianic Jew.” Praise God! I’m looking forward to meeting with him again soon to celebrate.
