Jeff Morgan

From Jeff Morgan, So Be It!

I met Holger* through Silvia,* a Christian friend who had shared with him about messianic prophecy and how Jesus is Messiah. Holger recently moved to Israel, and Silvia connected us in hopes that I could continue the conversation. Holger agreed to meet for lunch and opened up about his spiritual journey. Holger is highly intellectual and driven but deeply immersed in New Age beliefs. It became clear that he is genuinely seeking truth, but his current worldview keeps him away from reading the Bible. As we talked, I saw a shift. He began to consider that answers may not lie within us but in the Word of God. Toward the end of our conversation, he said, “The question isn’t if I believe in God, but if I believe God and his Word.” I smiled and said, “Bingo!” Now Holger wants to come to church and study the Scriptures together. Praise God!

This past week, several volunteers joined us on the beaches of Tel Aviv to start conversations and share the gospel with locals. Walking along the shoreline, a volunteer and I began talking to Yael.* We asked if she had ever heard about Yeshua, and more importantly, that he is the Messiah of Israel. She shared that she had a Christian friend in the army but, sadly, they never explained who Yeshua was. Yael admitted that she still longed for something bigger to believe in, like God, and was moved by the hope faith brings.
Of course, we were so excited to tell her about the hope she was seeking all along! We explained that God wants a personal relationship with her, that he loves her deeply, and has a future and a hope prepared for her. As we shared our testimonies, Yael’s eyes filled with tears, and she leaned in even more. She confided that she had had a bad day due to struggles in her family and had come to the beach to talk with God. Hearing about the reality of Jesus led her to recite the prayer of salvation. We exchanged contact info and arranged to have dinner together. In the end, Yael said it felt as if her eyes had been opened—the very hope she had been searching for. Amen!

From Valerie Cymes, Online Evangelism

Jim’s* search for truth has been a long road—so long that his name first appeared in our ministry notes in 1986. As the son of a Holocaust survivor, his Jewish identity was central in his life. Yet, being married to a practicing Catholic, the mix of traditions and faith was causing tension for him. Over many years, Jim would circle close to faith and then step back, wrestling with questions that never seemed to leave him. Jim has reached out to us online periodically through the years, but this time was different. When he reached out this week, he asked about prayer. I showed him the Lord’s Prayer and also explained the prayer of salvation. After a few quiet minutes, he responded, “I am saying both now.” In that instant, after decades of circling, Jim crossed from searching to believing. The angels rejoice, and so does everyone who has prayed for him along the way! Pray as we continue to walk alongside Jim on his discipleship journey.
