Super Bowl wrap up
Alan Bond, who led our Super Bowl outreach, says, “Thank you for praying! Jews for Jesus made a splash on the Super Bowl scene seven times during the nine days leading up to the big game kickoff. Outreach sites included Super Bowl City and the NFL Experience in San Francisco, the SAP center in San Jose, and the street approach to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
“A team of 17 staff and volunteers distributed 8,700 pieces of gospel literature including postcards, handbills and broadsides. We came out for San Jose’s opening night event and held up gospel banners on game day as crowds poured in via bus and train.”
Rob Wertheim (pictured above) reports, “While handing out broadsides at Union Square, I met a man named Peter* from Delaware. He was brought up in a Catholic family and said that he felt close to God between the ages of 12-15 years old, but fell away. He goes to church on Christmas and Easter but not any other time.
“I told him that simply going to church is not the basis for a relationship with God, and I asked him if he had ever asked Jesus into his heart so that he could have a relationship with the Lord. He hadn’t, so I said he could do so right there on the streets of San Francisco. He did and then I added, ‘I guess you were here for more than the Super Bowl,’ and he agreed. Praise the Lord! He left later in the day for Wilmington on a red eye.”
Please pray that God will continue to water the gospel seed that was planted during this outreach!
