Amer (missionary in Chicago) and Paige Olson welcomed their third child, Zechariah Dylan, into the world on February 13 at 3:56 p.m. Zechariah weighed about 8 lbs. Mom and new son came home from the hospital yesterday and both are doing fine. Big sister Abigail and brother Josiah are excited about their new brother!

From Rob (missionary in Los Angeles) and Sandy Wertheim:

“Our family just celebrated a B’nai Mitzvah* for Rose and Josh at the church we used to attend when we lived in Orange County. There were about 80 people present, many of them being old friends from our church as well as several Jewish believers whom Rob continues to minister to. We also had some Camp Gilgal friends and staff — and of course family members, including Sandy’s mom, Arlene, (not a believer in Jesus) who came out for the event! Tuvya Zaretsky (Los Angeles branch leader) officiated and missionary Chad Elliott and his wife, Kat, led three songs during the ceremony. Please pray that Rose and Josh will continue to mature into the woman and man of God that He wants them to be, and for Sandy’s mom to open her heart to Yeshua (Jesus).”

(Note: you’ll see in the photos that Rose and Josh are reading from an English Bible. Those readings were their Torah portions. They read their Haftorah portions in Hebrew, as is traditional.)

*B’nai Mitzvah is plural for Bar Mitzvah, which is a Jewish “coming of age” tradition where a son or daughter (Bat Mitzvah) stands before the congregation to identify and take responsibility, as a Jew, for living according to God’s laws. As Jewish believers in Jesus, our services are modified to reflect Jewish tradition, but also to reflect our children’s faith in, and commitment to, living for Yeshua.

Igor Barbanel (leader of our Odessa branch) and his wife Galya are new grandparents! Their older daughter Olga delivered a healthy baby boy, Misha, on January 23, 2006. He weighed 6.72 pounds and was 21.65 inches long. Sorry, no photos!
