Staff and volunteers collect contact cards from the audience before the show begins.
On the night of August 26th, Jews for Jesus, with the help of messianic congregations in Odessa and Nikolayev, conducted the final evangelistic effort of the Odessa Jubilee Campaign. The event was held in a concert hall and featured Messianic music, dance, and speakers. All 1,200 seats were filled, about 300 watched the concert standing, and another 500 people watched a livestream of the concert on two large screens in the lobby. Even more people were still in the streets, unable to get into the packed venue.
Watching the performances streamed live in the lobby.
The message of how Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead according to the Scriptures was shared from the platform for this audience of 2,000 people. When an invitation was given to people to repent of their sins and put their faith in Messiah, approximately 50% of the audience responded by raising their hands! We received contact information from 1,016 people (331 who are Jewish), and we are very excited to follow up with them and meet some of these people who may have heard the gospel message for the very first time that night.
The gospel message is shared from the stage.
While our team who planned and executed this event certainly did an amazing job, we don’t want to underestimate the role that the prayers of believers around the world played in this work of God. In fact, our Australia director, Bob Mendelsohn, reported that churches in Singapore prayed for hours for this very event!
We hope that YOU see yourself as a part of our international team praying for the salvation of the Jewish people. Read more stories from Odessa, and pray for our missionaries who are following up with all of the contacts (3,449 in total!) received during the campaign.
