What a privilege to open God’s Word with these campers!

From Arielle Randle: “The Camp Gilgal team is just wrapping up the second week of Junior Camp (for Jewish children ages 8-12) and we have been seeing God work in the lives of the campers in amazing ways. Will you pray for three of them in particular? We know your prayers will make a difference in their lives!

“Pray for Jack,* who comes from an unbelieving Jewish home in the suburbs of Chicago. Jack claimed to be an atheist last year and almost didn’t return to camp because he didn’t want to be forced to talk about spiritual things. This summer, as we studied the book of Genesis together, Jack actually wanted to engage in the discussions. David Randle, one of our Chicago branch Children and Youth Ministry workers (also my husband!), sat down with Jack and asked if he wanted to have a relationship with God. Jack responded, ‘Yes, but I don’t know how.’ His openness to talk about God is, in and of itself, an answer to prayer. Our staff and volunteers were so glad to be there for Jack; please pray that God will complete the work of bringing him into that relationship.

“Pray for Lizzy,* a first-time camper. Her Jewish grandmother came to faith just a few years ago but the rest of her family are still unbelievers. In our Genesis study, Lizzy told our staff that she started to ‘read ahead in the story’ on her own! Pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to put this desire in her heart to encounter God in His Word when she gets home.

“Pray for Jess,* a young girl who was adopted into a Jewish believing home. After devotions around the campfire the other night, she stayed back to talk with some of our staff. Jess shared with me about some of the fears that plague her from her life before being adopted. Will you pray for God to give our staff wisdom in how to continue ministering to Jess, so that she’ll see how a relationship with Him can heal her hurting heart?

“Our camp team is so grateful for your prayers and excited to be serving the Lord through ministry to young Jewish people!”
