Remembering Alexey Podgayetsky

On Monday, July 28, our brother Alexey Podgayetsky, went home to be with the Lord after battling complications from a long struggle with hepatitis. He was 33 years old. Alexey served as a faithful volunteer with our Kiev office for a number of years and joined our staff following his participation in the Odessa campaign of 2011. Alexey was a special encouragement to all of us for two reasons. First, he came to faith through the ministry of the Kiev-based missionaries, especially Leonid Kruter and Tolik Emma. And second, before coming to faith, Alexey spent some time as an Orthodox opponent who used to physically attack staff members as they handed out gospel pamphlets in Kiev. His faith and gospel service are a wonderful story of how God can change hearts so completely, turning opposition into co-workers for the Lord.

Alexey will be missed by all the Jews for Jesus family, but especially by his wife, Alya, and their young son, David. Please keep them in your prayers.
