Unsung heroes are an important part of Israel’s history.

Take Dewey Stone, for example. Never heard of him? Join the crowd. But if you love Israel, you might like to know that this American businessman was one of the unsung heroes who was hard at work behind the scenes in the days leading up to the founding of the modern state.

After World War II, as the full extent of the Holocaust was revealed, Stone worked “below the radar” on military as well as diplomatic steps toward a Jewish state.

You might be familiar with the Leon Uris novel, Exodus (also made into a movie starring Paul Newman), but Dewey Stone played an important part in the real life “exodus” on which the book and film were based.
