For several years now my husband and I have been contributing to Jews for Jesus. We really appreciate your ministry and enjoy receiving your literature and newsletters telling us about the things that you’re involved with and what progress you’re making. We also enjoy the postcards that come from time to time and appreciate the effort that goes into sending them. They do make us feel very personally involved in everything. I know this gift isn’t much, but I trust it helps, and I can’t help but wonder if you ever wonder how we came to offer it to you.
A few years ago, I was having my daily quiet time with the Lord and read the words from Romans 15:27, They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings.” I’m sure I must have read it before, but that day it really jumped out at me! I thought, I’m supposed to be supporting Jews? I don’t even know any Jewish people, and I wouldn’t know how to begin giving to them! But the conviction was strong. It was a real revelation that I just couldn’t shake, so I told the Lord He would have to point the way if this was to be done because I didn’t even know whom to ask about this! I wasn’t thinking about Jews who know Jesus—just the Jewish people in general.
Would you believe that within just a few days a letter from your organization arrived in our mail? I realized that, of course, I had seen your ads before—maybe even had received literature from you, but never had an interest in contributing.
I had shared with my husband my understanding of the Word and the thoughts I had about the need to give, and I could hardly wait to show him what had come in the mail!
I said, “If you don’t mind, I’d like us to make a small contribution to them. I really feel like God spoke to my heart and said we should be doing this.” He readily agreed that if God had spoken to me and I felt so strongly about it, then by all means, we should give. We were already committed to several [other] organizations, so this was a stretch, but God was clear. So we wrote out the first check, you responded, and there you have it!
It’s been a very joyful experience to give to you because I feel that it came as a direct call from God and that doing it is an act of obedience. Anyhow, that’s how one Gentile came to give to you. Thanks for all you do. We’re glad to be at least a small part of it!
