Last June we highlighted Camp Gilgal, the lynchpin of our children’s and youth ministry. As we invest in the next generation of Jewish believers in Jesus, the age range” for our camp ministry tops out with Adventure Camp (though we have other opportunities for young adults). We held our first Adventure Camp in 1999 in response to a request from Camp Gilgal teens who wanted to keep camp going.
Adventure Camp offers both physical and spiritual challenges. It fosters the community of fellowship young Jewish believers need with one another, as well as the mentorship from more mature believers. It pushes people beyond their comfort zone, but in the context of enjoying God’s beautiful creation in the company of good friends.
We have three Adventure Camps taking place from August 2-8* (the West Coast camp will run one day longer) and hope that you will be praying for our campers, staff and volunteers.
Our California coastal adventure will feature sea kayaking. Leaders are “Moose” Garret and “Spike” Friedman, both on staff with Jews for Jesus.
In the Midwest, our Northern Wisconsin adventure will feature rock climbing and canoeing. Leaders are “Chiclet” Moskowitz and “Taz” Tasman, both volunteers (and former campers) with Jews for Jesus.
Our upstate New York adventure will feature hiking and rock climbing, led by “Twister” Goldstein, who is on staff with Jews for Jesus.
If you are (or know of) a Jewish believer in Jesus who will be in the mid to late teens next summer and you would like us to contact you about our next Adventure Camp, please send a message to Dave Garrett. Be sure to mention if you are in the west, midwest or eastern part of the United States.
