Q&A: Does This Publication Have an “Agenda”?

As Messianic Jews, we’re passionate about sharing the message of Jesus with our fellow tribesmen and women. We’ve discovered the Jewish Messiah, the one our people were promised thousands of years ago, the one for whom we’ve all been waiting, and He’s transformed our lives. Do we want to tell the rest of the Jewish people this incredibly relevant good news? Absolutely, 100 percent, no question. After all, Jewish people have been telling other Jewish people about the Messiah ever since Moses mentioned him in Deuteronomy 18:15–22.

A deep, meaningful conversation among those with opposing views isn’t a trap. It’s healthy. As humans, we’re constantly surrounded by those who hold opinions or beliefs that may contradict our own. Ideally, this should be an exciting opportunity to explore unfamiliar ideas and reinforce truth.

Yes, we have an agenda. And it’s pretty simple: we want to have honest conversations with open-minded Jewish people about issues that deeply affect our people and how these issues relate to Jesus. We think every Jewish person has the right to explore the identity of Jesus for themselves and draw their own conclusions rather than let that choice be made for them by rabbis two thousand years ago.

We don’t want anyone to stop being Jewish. To be clear, it’s not actually possible to “stop being Jewish,” nor would we aspire to that even if it were. Jesus didn’t want that either. He addressed it clearly: “I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose” (Matthew 5:17).

We treasure our Jewish heritage, and our faith in Jesus in no way erases it. If Jesus is who he claimed to be – the Jewish Messiah – believing in him wouldn’t require any such conversion.
