When we were kids playing hide ‘n seek, there was usually a place declared “safe.”

It was great; you could go there without worrying that another kid would catch you.

In baseball, we could be “safe” on base or “safe at home.”

Wasn’t it always such a relief to get “safe”?

Sure it was.

But then we grow up.

And it turns out that there really is no place that’s truly safe, is there?

Terrorist attacks, tsunamis and other tragedies have proved that they can happen anywhere, at any time…cities, suburbs, even remote towns in places we rarely think about.

So where can we go? Where is “safe” in such a world?

Well, there’s a disaster survival guide that people have been using for thousands of years that tells us when tragedy strikes, there’s one place where we can all go to be safe.

This survival guide is called the Bible and it says,

“God is our refuge and our strength, an ever present help in times of trouble.”

Why? Because God is everywhere.

“Where can I go from [God’s] Spirit? Where can I flee from [God’s] presence? If I go up to the heavens, [God is] there; if I make my bed in the depths, [he is] there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there [God’s] hand will guide me, [his] right hand will hold me fast.”

We’re not promised that adversity won’t come our way, but God does promise to be with us through the times that hurt us and try us…

and ultimately, he promises that one day, we can be “safe at home” with him, if we put our trust in Yeshua (Jesus), who said,

“In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world.”

“[God] will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces…”

Do you want to find “safe”?
