God doesn’t come to our door for a handout in a goblin costume, putting us on the spot for a trick or treat.

God is no jack-o-lantern-in-the-sky…

His imposing presence doesn’t say to us that if we don’t treat him right, he’s going to pull some cosmic prank, such as famine, cardiac arrest, or clogged plumbing.

God gets no glee from the mishaps that befall man.

He does come to the door of every man’s heart in the person of Jesus.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him and he with me.”–Revelation 3:20.

He won’t be dismissed by a bit of sweet or a trifling coin.

He asks to be invited in.

He offers to make the home of our lives a joyous festival.

He brings with Him the decorations, refreshments, entertainment and fellowship.

His party favors aren’t cheap toys that give only ten minutes of joy…and become trash after a laugh…

Jesus offers you favors that are for always, gifts that are everlasting…

Mostly, the gift of eternal life to you, from God*, through Jesus, the Son who died and rose again–so that all who believe in Him might receive that gift of everlasting life…**
