England has shocked the world by announcing they are going to allow a new medical procedure that could lead to designer babies.

The House of Commons recently voted by 382 to 128 in favor of allowing the creation of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) babies with DNA from three people.

After years of debate and medical research, the IVF laws are now changed to allow this technique.

The new procedure hopes to diminish serious inherited diseases by allowing a small amount of healthy DNA into an embryo by a third woman donor.

Not everyone is jumping for joy. There is serious opposition by the Catholic and Anglican Churches as well as pro-life advocates.

The interesting thing is it’s still a theory. No one has stepped up to be the first experiment.

I’d like to see how a third stream of DNA will affect the outcome of a baby produced in a petri dish. It could turn out to be a wonderful advance in human biology or it could turn out to be a fiasco, creating more health problems than anyone could have imagined.

But while the debate rages, no matter what genetic manipulations the science community can engineer, I know one thing for certain – that baby will still inherit sin in his DNA and there won’t be a thing he can do about it.

We can thank our ancestors, Adam and Eve for that. Instead of living in harmony with the God who created them, they dissed his rules and went on their own path. God calls that sin.

And like this super baby, we are all born this way. We arrive on the scene shaking our fists at God. We need a new DNA if we want a relationship with him. And the only place to obtain it is from God Himself.

He provided the solution in the person of His Son Yeshua (Jesus). Yeshua left heaven and came to earth as a man to live a perfect life pleasing God, and then died on the cross as our sin bearer. God declared to the world He accepted his sacrifice by raising him from the dead.

By putting your faith in Jesus and his finished work of atonement, God gives you Yeshua’s sinless DNA as a free gift.

“I will cleanse them from all the guilt of their sin against me, and I will forgive all the guilt of their sin and rebellion against me.” – Jeremiah 33:8 ESV
