Purim (the holiday based on events from the book of Esther) affords Jewish people the opportunity to enjoy pastries known as hamantaschen, and to dress up in fun costumes as part of the festivities. Earlier this month our New York team took the opportunity to bring some Purim cheer to New York commuters down in the subway stations. As Jews who love Jesus, we let people know that we also love our heritage and our fellow New Yorkers.
One of our “Purim stations” featured an interactive “Who’s Your Hero?” board and another offered free hot chocolate and hamantaschen. Some of the team handed out our evangelistic “Who’s Your Hero?” postcard, and everyone was looking to engage people in conversations. Purim is a particularly fun holiday for outreach, as you can see from these photos.
Please pray for those New Yorkers we encountered during our Purim outreaches, that they will truly consider that ultimate salvation is found in Messiah Jesus.
