This month we have a Behold Your God campaign in Hartford/New Haven, Connecticut, where over 65,000 Jewish people reside. Because the fall colors are so brilliant at this time, there will also be an influx of visitors—many of whom will also be Jewish—to see the foliage. Lynn McCoy is leading the campaign, with able assistance from Karol Joseph. Both women have lived in New England and are eager to return there to raise a gospel banner. Training takes place from October 4 to 6 with the actual campaign running from October 7 to 19.

Unlike New York, Boston or Washington, D.C., Hartford/New Haven will be a largely suburban outreach. We need a lot of creativity to meet the challenge of this kind of a campaign, where there are no bustling city centers with lots of foot traffic.

The campaign will include forays on campuses such as Yale University and the University of Hartford and we will share the gospel with many Jewish people in West Hartford Center as well. We’ve already sent out a mailing offering our Survivor Stories video and have begun calling to follow up. Those who express interest will receive a hand-delivered video from one of our staff or volunteers during the campaign. If all goes well, we will also have a kiosk at one of the major malls. Jews for Jesus lettering on ten vehicles will increase gospel visibility in the burbs.” In addition, we have billboards proclaiming the message, “Be more Jewish. Believe in Jesus.” Some brave believers are also willing to have similar signs in their yards.

Hartford/New Haven is a rather closed community, where liberal churches abound. We are grateful to have some evangelical friends there who love the Lord enough to risk the disapproval that will certainly come as a result of their participation. Please pray for us and for the local Christians who care enough to step out in faith, and pray for God to open the eyes of many Jews and Gentiles to the truth of Jesus.
