The Six-Day War occurred June 5-10, 1967.

How did the war get its name?

Yitzhak Rabin was given the honor of naming the war for the Israelis. Proposed names for the war included “War of Daring,” “War of Salvation,” and “War of the Sons of Light.” Rabin rejected all of these in favor of “the Six-Day War,” which was not only a far less ostentatious name, but memorialized how quickly the war was won, while also alluding to the six days of creation.
