Question: Is Valentine’s Day celebrated in Israel?

Many contemporary Israelis, and especially those who are secular, do enjoy celebrating Valentine’s Day in Israel on February 14. A more traditional day to celebrate love and romance is the fifteenth of the Hebrew month of Av. This minor holiday had certain religious observances attached to it while the Temple was still standing, observances that are no longer practiced today. To many it has become the “Jewish Valentine’s Day.”
