Not a Haman, a Pharoah or a Hitler
a holocaust
an inquisition
a pogrom
can prevent the hand of God from protecting His people Israel.

Not the scorch of flame, drowning waters or bomb in the market
a burning synagogue
a bloodied sword
a canister of Zyklon B
can prevent the hand of God from sheltering His people Israel.

Not our own unbelief
our pride in our adequacy
our flirtation with the stranger’s ways
can prevent the hand of God from reaching out to His people Israel.

The faithless man says,
The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.”
But the Lord replies,
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”

God’s hand is ever beckoning His people Israel to the shelter of His love.
