Some Take More Convincing than Others
Jack, a young Jewish man from New York engaged to a Gentile believer, had been meeting with one of our missionaries for several months. Even with Jack’s fiancee and our worker witnessing to him and praying for him, Jack seemed satisfied with only an intellectual belief in the gospel without personal commitment—until he decided to visit Los Angeles.
While Jack was driving along the freeway in southern California, his car suddenly lost power, slammed into a retaining wall and was completely demolished. All that remained of the car were chunks of metal, but Jack walked away with only a scratched knee and a minor neck sprain. He said afterwards that he had felt God’s hand on him throughout the traumatic event, but he had also sensed that the incident was a warning about the dangers of procrastinating in matters pertaining to God. So right there, beside the remains of his car, Jack finally gave his heart to Christ.
