Our Behold Your God Washington, D.C. campaign runs August 18-September 18, 2004, led by Stephen Katz and Larry Dubin.
This is a presidential election year, which means the eyes of the entire world will be focused on Washington, D.C. We hope that with all the media attention, we’ll be able to focus some of it on Yeshua (Jesus). In addition to all this political activity, Washington is known for its late summer street fairs, free concerts and other miscellaneous events (including the National Frisbee Contest). Did you know that over 200,000 Jewish people reside in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area? That does not even include the 18,000 Jewish university students who will return to their campuses in early September.
We are blessed to have several of our board members participating in this campaign. Among them, our anchor church,” McLean Bible Church, is pastored by board member Lon Solomon, who has encouraged many people in his church to be involved with our efforts. Also, Jack Sternberg, another of our board members (see p. 7) has written his own tract to hand out on the campaign. It’s great to have a board who not only stands behind Jewish evangelism, but who can stand with us right on the front lines.
From August 29-September 12, we are launching Behold Your God Denver—our biggest and boldest effort ever in this area. Robyn Wilk and Larry Stamm are leading this campaign.
Denver and Boulder are bustling during this time of year. Campuses are opening up for the fall, and local events like “The Taste of Colorado” as well as baseball games attract lots of people, many of whom are Jewish. Did you know that over 40,000 Jewish people reside in Denver and the surrounding suburbs? Many of these people have never heard the gospel explained in a Jewish way. They will this year! We’ll be distributing tracts, ministering through music, going door-to-door and phoning Jewish seekers. We will also be showing Survivor Stories, a film that tells the stories of several Holocaust survivors, and how they came to faith in Yeshua. Stan Telchin, the author of Betrayed!, will speak on how he tried to disprove the messiahship of Jesus, and in the process became a believer. Elizabeth T., our most experienced missionary from the former Soviet Union, will be with us to help us reach out to the Russian Jewish community. We are looking forward to working closely with other messianic ministries and key churches in the area.
Please keep these two outreaches and those involved in your prayers!
