It’s a fact that we are called the chosen people because God has chosen us to communicate his truth to the nations. He chose our people to write and preserve and proclaim the Scriptures. Sometimes, God called on his prophets to act out a message to his people. He instructed Ezekiel to lie on his left side, tied in ropes, for 390 days to bear the number of years of Israel’s sin, and on his right side for 40 days for the 40 years of Judah’s sin!

So it should come as no surprise that our people still excel in the communicative arts. Ten Jewish people won Oscars at the 2011 Academy Awards, including Israeli-born Natalie Portman as best actress and David Seidler for best original screenplay for The King’s Speech. Mike Reiss, a writer and producer of The Simpsons, has won four Emmy Awards. Writer and producer Matthew Weiner has won eight Emmys and three Golden Globe Awards for his work on Mad Men and The Sopranos. Interviewers Barbara Walters and Larry King have dozens of award accolades between them. And the list goes on …
