On Thanks Giving
If you think that Thanksgiving is about turkeys and pumpkin pie…
…you are about as smart as a turkey and as bright as a six week old jack-o-lantern without a candle.
Sorry to insult you, but I thought maybe, perhaps, I could just shake you up a little bit so that you would know…
…just know that there is a God and He’s always doing good things for you.
And though He’s omniscient, so that He knows everything….
and though He’s omnipotent, so that nothing is very hard for Him to do…
…He would still like to hear a word of thanks from you.
Now you might wonder why since He already knows everything.
The answer is this: He loves you. He cares for you a lot.
And He would like to know from you that you sense that He’s guiding you and that He cares for you.
“But how could I know that He loves me?”
Well, you could look at the beautiful world that He made.
You could remember each day that you weren’t destroyed by an earthquake, a volcano, a typhoon or a falling meteor…
…that He’s the preserver of life.
But maybe the best way is to just think of what His love for you cost Him.
“What did it cost?”
He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
If you can’t be thankful about anything else, that’s something for which to be thankful.
