How to Have a Successful Workout

Did you know that sweatworking is the newest trend for closing a sales deal? It’s no longer over a dry martini or a glass of wine. Now it’s working up a sweat at your favorite gym while giving your sales pitch to a client.

Bars are out, the barre is in.

According to the Reuters article, schmoozing with a client in a boutique gym under soft lights is cozier than four hours on a golf course. The idea behind the craze is to build relationships that will lead to better business deals and hopefully to return customers.

While this is a healthy idea for keeping lean and mean, who’s to say in the long run if it will increase your bottom line.

I suppose it depends on your objective. Is it to be the star salesperson with a ripped physique or to multitask your workout while checking off your client appointments?

Either way, you’ve added another weight to your to-do list. And for what? I think the real motive is about gaining approval – from the boss, your client, and even yourself.

I’m so grateful God isn’t that way. He doesn’t say, “Do another super set to build up your approval ratings with me.”

No amount of sweat registers with God because no matter how hard we try it’s never hard enough.

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.” – Isaiah 59:1-2 ESV

That’s why he had to solve the problem himself. He did it by sending his Son Yeahua (Jesus) to earth to do the work in a way that would win his approval for our sake.

Jesus lived a perfect life conforming to God’s laws with all his might and strength, and also went to the cross as our sin bearer to die in our place. Anyone who believes this and places his faith in Yeshua’s finished work on the cross is declared free from sin in the sight of God.

“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” – Isaiah 43:25 ESV

Jesus did the work for you so you could be fit forever.
